In my newest college admissions video, I provide some tips on an issue most juniors and seniors dread: the college interview. My advice is to focus on the interviewer's connection to the school as much as possible, especially with alumni interviewers. This strategy builds rapport instantly.
Also, I don't mention this in the video, but if the interviewer asks you where else you are applying, you might want to consider the following strategy. Mention a few school that "rank" higher than the interviewer's school, but then mention reasons why you wouldn't want to attend those other schools. "They don't have the same school spirit." "It didn't have my preferred program." And then lay on all the reasons you love the interviewer's school. Answering this way shows that you have options, but that you truly believe the interviewer's school is your top choice.
